Planning your trip

Coastal and national park campsites here are run by Parks Victoria, and some use its booking service. Forest camping areas such as Goongerah and Deptford are run by the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action, with their own rules.

Despite its name, this region does not include Gippsland Lakes Coastal Park, which is listed under Gippsland. Distances are long and some access roads are unsealed or close after storms or fire. Use the park page or the Explore Outdoors Victoria pages for the campsite you want, and check fire restrictions and alerts before you travel. A beach or inlet in a name says nothing about access, so confirm it with the manager.
