Planning your trip
Most campsites here are run by NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service. Kidman's Camp and Warrawong on the Darling are private campgrounds, so book and check conditions with the operator. Menindee Visitor Information Centre is a useful contact for the lakes area.
Distances out here are long and many roads are unsealed. Rain can close roads for days, and summer heat is extreme. Use the NSW National Parks site to confirm bookings, road conditions and alerts before you set out, and carry enough water and fuel. A river or lake in a campground name is no guide to water levels or access, so confirm them with the manager first.
