Sand Quarry Dam
Bendigo Loddon · VIC
From Inglewood head south-west on the Inglewood-Rheola Road for 15.5km, then turn right onto Back Road and about 150 metres down Back Road you will see the campground on your right hand side. Set under a canopy of Blackleys Red Gum, Grey Box and Yellow Box Trees and Hickory Wattle, this site provides wood-fired BBQs and picnic tables, but campers need to be self-sufficient. Bring your own drinking water and take your rubbish home with you. There are no toilets so you must either properly bury your toileting waste or bring your own portable toilets or waste containers to dispose of off-site. Enjoy this site and please leave it in as good or better a condition as you found it. This open site can cater for a small number of camper trailers. As outlined in the camping comments, come prepared and please leave the site in as good or better a condition as you found it. The Sand Quarry Dam was created in the 1960's, with granite sand quarried for road building material. This site now provides for self-sufficient camping and lies close to the attractions of Kooyoora State Park and the Melville Caves, and Kingower State Forest.
